Dog Boarding
Comfort and Fun On Your Pets’ Same Schedule….....
I have a question for you.......
When you think about what options are available for you to choose from when it comes to where you can leave your pet(s) when going away for a day or a few weeks, what would your answer(s) be?
Well, before I started this company, here were my answers......
1. My veterinarian's office
2. A fancy doggie resort.......where they offered all types of services from doggie daycare to grooming services
3. A family members home or friends' home
4. A company that would have "host families" care for my pets' in their home
On the "ABOUT US" page of this website, I talked about the specific problem I faced when trying to locate an alternative to kenneling for my two fur kids, Bailey & Studley. After my experience with the "host family company", I wanted to create an option for pet parents to be able to create a "home experience" for their pets and have as little stress and anxiety on them as possible.
So in thinking about those options, I always came back to Studley and Bailey, and what would be the least stressful option for them. They have a basic daily "routine" and feel the most comfortable when they STAY on that schedule. Here is an example of that routine, told in the eyes of Studley, my baby boy shih-tzu!
6am----Mom, time for you to get up! Mom....rub my eyes and rub my belly! Ok....now take me outside so I can "do my business".
6:15am----Ok....now I want my treat, PLEASE! YAY! Fresh water and my yummy food!
6:45am---Ahhh.....time for a nap on my favorite beddie, but I might also move onto the couch corner to sleep in a ball.
Noon---Nap time over, I need to go outside! RELIEF!!! A little playtime with my squeaker toys. Naptime again!
1pm---Woo
f! Woof! Woof!! I see that mailman thru the office window! And look, there is a squirrel in my yard! Ok....they are both gone, now I can nap again.
3pm---Playtime!!! Do you hear the squeaker toys squeaking?
5pm---Dinner! Yum!! I see my mommy adding water to my food to make it mushy. Yay! And a potty break again too!
6pm---Playtime! Mommy is on the floor playing with me....what fun!
6:30pm---Potty time and running in the grass! Relief!
8pm---Sitting on my mommies lap getting lovin' is sooo.......good! I could stay here forever!
10pm---Sleepy time! One more time outside then I can run upstairs and get into that comfy bed and curl in for the night! Life is good!
So as you can see, that schedule is not necessarily the same as what would occur at a veterinarians' office or at a doggie resort.
- Would the environment at a veterinarians' office or a doggie resort be a calming one??
- How many pet(s) do they care for on any given day??
- What time does a care-giver arrive in the AM and leave in the PM for that last "potty break?"
- Are the pet(s) sleeping in a crate, small room, or hard concrete floor?
With that being said, for my own pets, the only two options for me is to have them stay in their own home OR a trusted pet-sitter's home so they can stay on their own schedule and have a calming and peaceful home environment.
So here are the answers to some questions our clients have asked prior to booking services about the dog boarding options that Starlets of Pawsperity offer:
1.) Is it a cage-less environment?
ABSOLUTELY! Your pet(s) have "free roaming" of the home they are in. If you prefer to have your pet sleep in their crate, you are welcome to bring it along.
2.) Will my pet(s) be on their same feeding and bedtime schedule?
YES! Prior to booking services, you will complete a detailed registration about your pet(s) routine. That routine is followed by the pet-sitter.
3.) What can I bring along for my pet(s)?
ANYTHING YOU WANT! You may bring along anything that you would like to make sure your pet(s) are comfortable. Feel free to bring: their bed, toys, crate, treats, food, water and food bowls, medication, etc......It will NEVER be considered too much!
4.) How many pets will be in the home at the same time as mine?
Our aim is to have a one-on-one ratio; however, during holidays and peak seasons, there might be one or two pets in a sitters' home. We would let you know at the time of booking if it is not a one-on-one ratio.
5.) Are there any children in your home or the sitters' homes?
NO! Our homes are extremely calm environments with no children, excessive barking, or other factors that might add to the stress of your pet(s) experience.
6.) Where will my pet sleep if staying at your home or a pet-sitters' home?
WHEREVER THEY WISH! If you would like them to snuggle in bed with us, that can be arranged, as we LOVE snuggling too! Or if they sleep in a crate, on the floor with their bed, or on a blanket, it will be the same sleeping arrangement in our homes.
7.) What is the criteria of my pet(s) qualifying for Dog Boarding Care?
The pet(s) MUST be non-aggressive and be socialized with other pet(s) and people. They also MUST be vaccinated and be up to date with those vaccines at the time the service is to be rendered.
8.) Can I call/email/text to check up on my pet(s)?
ABSOLUTELY! But.....we will probably beat you to it! We always keep in touch with our clients and let them know how their pets are doing. We verify with you prior to your departure "how" you would like to be notified, and we will send pictures/updates about your pet as often as possible. Once per day minimum!
9.) Are there "doggie doors" in the home?
NO! Your pet(s) are always chaperoned outside with their caregiver to make sure they are safe when going potty. In my home, there is a large fenced in yard for the pups to play in, and in our pet-sitters' homes, there are parks nearby and hiking trails where they can run, play, and be walked.
10.) Can we see the home that my pet will be staying in?
OF COURSE! Actually, that is where the Meet and Greet Consultation will take place! You will be given the address of the home once your arrangements have been solidified.
11.) My pet is on medications. Will you administer them?
YES! We can administer most medications, and will discuss in depth during the Meet and Greet Consultation.
Take a look at all of the pictures on this page......as they are some of our clients enjoying themselves at my home!
We have clients all the time that have come to us after having a "not so great experience" using alternate pet-care options. Those clients mean so much to us.......that we can create peace of mind for them and they can enjoy their time away!
